Originally known as ‘Chocolate Beans,’ Smarties® have come a long way since their humble beginnings. First introduced in 1882 by Rowntree’s in York, the beans were a hit with chocolate-loving consumers. Then in 1937, the Smarties® that you know, and love today earned their colours, turning every snack time into a rainbow-filled adventure.

There are eight sweets to choose from, and each is made from 100% certified cocoa through our Nestlé Cocoa Plan. Coated in a crisp sugar shell, each sweet is made with smooth milk chocolate. Smarties® contain no artificial colours, flavours, or preservatives. From the cheerful red to the sunny yellow and playful blue, every colour invites you to taste the magic inside.
